Dandelion - Taraxacum officinale
A common plant of grassland and cultivated ground is native to Eurasia, but has naturalized in all parts of the Northern Hemisphere.
The entire plant, including the leaves, stems, flowers, and roots, is edible and nutritious. Dandelions are found on 6 continents and have been gathered for food since prehistory.
The flower petals, along with other ingredients, usually including citrus, are used to make dandelion wine. For more information on eatting dandelions, visit EdibleWildFood.com
Note: You should always consult a reputable field guide when foraging for edible wildflowers and plants to ensure proper identification and important preparation processes and precautions.
The English name, dandelion, is a corruption of the French dent de lion meaning "lion's tooth", referring to the coarsely toothed leaves.
