Foxglove Beardtongue - Penstemon digitalis
Foxglove Beardtongue is part of the Snapdragon family and blooms in late-spring to early summer.
The flowers resemble fingers of a glove. Hence, the name Foxglove (foxglove is fox + glove). Glove we can understand since the latin name digitalis means "finger-like." But why fox?

The name "Beardtongue" refers to the hairy tip of the sterile stamen that is visible in the corolla.
Other names for Foxglove Beardtongue: foxglove beard-tongue, talus slope penstemon, or white beardtongue.
