Sweet Autumn Clematis - Clematis terniflora
Sweet Autumn Clematis is an introduced perennial vine that is native to Japan. Sweet Autumn Clematis can grow up 30 feet long. It is not a regulated plant in Wisconsin but should be used with caution as the semi-woody vine is aggressive and can smother smaller shrubs.
Autumn Clematis thrives in full sun to light shade.
Sweet Autumn Clematis (Clematis terniflora) can be confused with the native Virgin's Bower (Clematis virginiana)
Blooms August - September.
